Choral Evensong is
simply a fancy way of saying Evening PrayerSung. It is one of the great
musical traditions of the Episcopal Church. Evensong is sung by one of Saint Mark's
choirs or a visiting choir from other churches in the Diocese of Olympia.
Often one of Saint Mark's children or youth
choirs sing Evensong. Singing Evensong affords our young singers the opportunity to
learn chant and canticles, memorize creeds and prayers, and to sing anthems in styles
ranging from traditional sacred music to world music from Latin America, Africa, Native
American traditions and beyond.
Choral Evensong takes place each Wednesday,
September through May, at 6:30 p.m. in the Cathedral. Evensongs are preceded by a
simple dinner in Bloedel Hall at 5:30 p.m.
Special programs and classes follow Evensong at 7:15 p.m.
Please visit Faith Formation for information on
Wednesday night classes.
