Saint Mark's Choir School:

The Junior Choristers

These children, grade 2 and under, meet during the sermon at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday service. The Junior Choristers is a training choir for the Boys and Girls Choir. They learn basic musicianship skills in a fun and engaging atmosphere. They sing primarily at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday service several times a year.

The Boys and Girls Choir

Directed by Brian Fairbanks, the Boys and Girls Choir meets Wednesday afternoons, after school. This choir sings regularly at Wednesday Evensongs and Sunday morning services. It is open to singers grades 3 through 7 from throughout the greater Seattle area. Singers receive weekly vocal training, learn to read music, sing in several languages and styles, and discover what it is to be a minister in the church. They also enjoy special events: hosting the Annual Children’s Choir Festival, tours, sleepovers, etc.

The Youth Ensemble

Brian Fairbanks trains this group of young men and women (Grade 8 and above) from the parish, diocese, and the surrounding community; they meet Wednesday evenings. The Ensemble sings music from a variety of traditions, from Taizé chant to gospel to world and Anglican music. Girls from the Youth Ensemble annually sing Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols for the Cathedral’s Christmas services.
