Staff of the
Music Program
at Saint Mark's Cathedral

Melvin Butler, Canon Organist/Choirmaster, came to Saint Mark’s from Rochester, NY, where he was for twenty years Organist/Choirmaster of the Downtown Presbyterian Church, Associate Professor of Church Music at the Eastman School, violist in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and Music Director of the Rochester Bach Festival.

Dr. Butler directs The Cathedral Choir, The Saint Mark's Singers, and The 9:00 Ensemble. In addition to his duties at Saint Mark's, he is also Artist-in-Residence at the University of Washington where he teaches improvisation and church music skills.

  Brian Fairbanks is former conductor of Amabile Choir/Northwest Girlchoir, the Seattle Junior Symphony, and the Everett Junior Symphony. He has also been Music Director for the award-winning Shorecrest High School Musical Theatre program.

Brian directs The Gallery Choir, The Women's Choir and all children and youth music programs.
