Ongoing Opportunities for Faith Formation

The Newcomer Orientation Class is a thumbnail sketch of the history of Saint Mark’s, a look at our programs, an introduction to the Episcopal Church.  If you’ve recently crossed the Saint Mark’s threshold for the first time or have tiptoed in from Compline and have some very basic questions, this course—only four weeks long—would be a great starting place.

Christian Initiation, (Catechism) is for those contemplating making a significant commitment to God.  For most participants this course culminates in the baptisms, receptions, confirmations, and re-affirmations at the Easter Vigil when the community celebrates the journey of the group in the context of the Resurrection.  For many the class has been transformative in relationships with self, God, others, and the world.

Education for Ministry (EFM) is a four-year program, focusing on studies of Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, Christian history, and theology.

Women's Retreats
Throughout the year women at Saint Mark's gather to share stories and spend reflection and retreat time together. The group combines with Adult Education to work on feminist theology and new ways of looking at ourselves and God. Both men and women are invited to these retreat days.
