Committees of the St. Mark's Cathedral Foundation

The Foundation has five committees, with meetings open to the public (except as noted). Several include non-Board members who provide unique expertise and perspective. Their membership, responsibilities and meeting schedules are listed below.

Executive Committee

This committee includes the Foundation officers; other committee chairs may be invited, as appropriate. During 2011, Vestry Junior Warden Janet McCully has agreed to serve on the Executive Committee. It meets between board meetings to discuss current and emerging issues; develop board agendas; and (as needed) to act on the Board’s behalf in urgent situations.

Finance and Investment Committee

This committee is chaired by the Treasurer and includes 3-5 members. It develops the Foundation’s annual operating budget; recommends and works with an auditing form for external review of its financial records; and oversees the Foundation’s investment managers. The committee meets quarterly in January, April, July and October.

Nominating Committee

This committee includes 3-5 members. It identifies future board and leadership needs; develops, maintains and regularly updates a list of potential board members; works with the Bishop’s Office and the Cathedral Vestry to recruits, nominate, and orient new board members; and monitors member satisfaction with their work. It meets every other month. Because of the confidential nature of their work, this committee’s meetings are not open to the public.

Development Committee

This committee includes 4-8 members. It develops and leads the fundraising activities of the Foundation, in collaboration with the Planned Giving Committee; develops marketing materials for fundraising; identifies potential donors; and recommends policies for gift acceptance and donor recognition.

Planned Giving Committee

This committee provides educational programs on planned giving, recognizes those who have included either the Cathedral or the Foundation in their estate plans, and provides periodic reminders to parishioners at Saint Mark’s to remember the Cathedral in their wills or other estate plans.

Liaisons to Vestry and Other Roles

In addition, some board members serve as liaisons to Vestry Committees, as follows:

  • Liaison to the Vestry’s Stewardship Committee: Kathy Sodergren
  • Liaisons to the Vestry’s Sustainability Committee: Judy Andrews, Stacy Andersen and Bill Broesamle
