An endowment is a special fund established to support a specific project in perpetuity. The goal for an endowment is for the principal of the fund to grow to such a size that just a percentage of the fund’s annual investment earnings will support the entire project.

Saint Mark’s Cathedral manages a number of endowments, with purposes ranging from funding specific staff positions to providing flowers for Sunday worship services.
