Good Friday's liturgy is out of joint, the familiar eucharistic liturgy stretched out on the cross until we no longer recognize it. Its brokeness evokes the brokeness of Christ. We are in the desolate valley of our three day journey, the valley of the shadow of death.

Music by the Youth Ensemble and Cathedral Choir
We play with fire tonight; we light a candle in the darkness and read from Book of our sacred story by its light; we bring new members into the body of Christ through the waters of baptism; rejoincing, we carry fragrant, fresh-baked bread and rich red wine to the Table; thankful, we feast on Holy Food. it is the Passover of the Lord, and we celebrate Resurrection. Alleluia! Christ is risen! The Lord is risen indeed! Alleliua!
Following the Easter Vigil, we celebrate and welcome the newly baptized, confirmed, and received in to the Anglican Communion AND welcome the Great Fifty Days of Easter. Please bring chocolate desserts or plates of fruit to share after the liturgy. Easter is the great feast of the Christian year, stretching across fifty days from the Easter Vigil through the Day of Pentecost.
We gather together, friends and strangers, those who come once in awhile, those who have never come before, those who come every Sunday, to celebrate this great feast of joy as we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, his triumph over death, his promise of new life. We hear the Good news, we sing songs of joy, we remember our baptism, we feast on bread and wine, we rejoice with all our being.
