Nominations

The Nominating Committee, which is not a Vestry committee, is designated by the Cathedral's Constitution and Bylaws to present to the annual Parish meeting a list of nominees for Parish representatives to the Vestry and to the Diocesan Nominations Committee a list of nominees for Diocesan representatives to the Vestry. The committee is also charged with nominating a slate of delegates and alternates to represent the cathedral at Diocesan Convention for two years.

Vestry Member Nominations Process

Four parish members and one diocesan member rotate off the Vestry each year. They are replaced by four representatives from Saint Mark's Parish and one representative from the Diocese of Olympia. All members serve for a three year term.

Candidates for the parish representatives are presented as a double slate--that is, eight candidates stand for election for four positions at the Annual Meeting in January. In selecting names for consideration, the Nominating Committee uses the parish roster to identify potential candidates and also invites members to submit names for consideration via a box placed in the Nave in the fall.

The Diocesan representative is elected at the Diocesan Convention in the fall. The Nominating Committee sends the name of at least one qualified non-parishioner to the Diocese for this election.

Convention Delegates Nominations Process

The 2011 Convention - Living the Eucharist is scheduled for Friday through Saturday, October 21-22, 2011, at the Lynnwood Convention Center, Lynnwood, Washington. The convention will convene at 1 pm on Friday, October 21 and conclude at 5 pm on Saturday, October 22.

The 500-plus members of the convention from around the diocese will come together to conduct diocesan business (elections and resolutions), but more importantly, to share their faith journeys, to converse on topics of interest, and to hear stories from a diverse collection of speakers.

At the Annual Meeting, ten delegates are elected and join the twelve delegates from the previous year. In selecting names for consideration, the Nominating Committee uses the parish roster to identify potential candidates and also invites members to submit names for consideration via a box placed in the Nave in the fall.
